Meadowlark Park is named after the bird. Unfortunately, you don't actually see a lot of meadowlarks in the neighbourhood. This species of birds are mostly visible in the rural prairies.
The neighbourhood was established in 1955. It is bordered to the south by Glenmore Trail and to the west by Elbow Drive. It is also bordered to the east by Chinook Centre, the largest mall in Calgary. The mall has over 250 shops and restaurants including three anchor stores: Hudson's Bay, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
The Meadowlark Park Community Association operate the major parks and playgrounds within the neighbourhood. There are also nearby pathways for the residents who enjoy walking or biking.
