Richmond was established in 1950. It is bordered to the north by 17 Avenue, to the south by 33 Avenue, and to the east and west by 19 Street and 20 Street, respectively. Crowchild Trail, which is one of the major expressways in Calgary, is also nearby.
While the neighbourhood was annexed to Calgary in 1907, it wasn't until it was officially established that the developments started. Some of the 1950s houses are still maintained to this day. For those looking to shop or eat at trendy restaurants, they can simply drive a few minutes to Marda Loop, which has become one of the most popular entertainment destinations in Calgary.
Richmond is served by two public schools: Richmond Elementary and Chinook College for Continuing Education. There are also nearby private schools.
