Shawnessy was established as a neighbourhood in 1981. It is bordered to the north by Shawnessy Blvd, to the south by 162 Avenue S, and to the east and west by Macleod Trail and James McKevitt Road, respectively.
You can expect residents to have easy access to wherever they want to go because of the surrounding road networks. Shawnessy also has its own station for the CTrain. The neighbourhood has its own retail centre: Shawnessy Town Centre.
Fish Creek Provincial Park, the second largest urban park in the country, is located north of Shawnessy. The park has some great pathways for biking and hiking. Fish Creek is also a good place to do some fishing.
