Bankview is a mature neighbourhood. The area, which was established in 1908, used to be part of a large farmland owned by rancher William Nimmons. One of the attractions in Bankview is the Nimmons Residence, which was built in 1884. It stands at the northeast corner of Bankview.
To keep up with the times, Bankview underwent major redesign in 1950. Development continues in this neighbourhood, which is located southwest of the dynamic Beltline district. Bankview is bordered by 17th Ave SW to the north, 26th Ave SW to the south, 14th Street SW to the east, and 19th Street SW to the west.
17th Ave district is where you will find most of Bankview's restaurants and shopping centres. There are also a number of parks scattered around the neighbourhood.
