Bridlewood is a relatively new community established in 1998. It is located north of Stoney Trail. The neighbourhood borders Bridlewood Creek Wetland to the east. The wetland is man-made, intended to be a stormweather retention pond of Calgary.
South of Bridlewood is Spruce Meadows, a multi-sports facility in Calgary opened in 1975. It is a famous equestrian facility as it is owned by Canadian equestrian Linda Southern-Heathcott, a member of the 1996 Canadian Olympic Team. This is exactly why the neighbourhood got an equestrian-related name.
There are a number of schools in the community: Bridlewood Elementary, Monsignor JJ O'Brien and Glenmore Christian Academy. Bridlewood is also close to Fish Creek Park and a golf course--an important detail for those looking for large green spaces.
