The residential neighbourhood of Collingwood was established in 1959. The area is south of Nose Hill Park, which is one of the most famous urban parks in Canada. The park is a popular hangout place among Calgarians and their dogs. Collingwood is also bordered by Confederation Park in the south.
The area is great for accessibility as it is bordered by the John Laurie Blvd. in the north and 14th Street W in the west.
Collingwood is mainly a residential area with 75% of the population living in single-family homes. The rest live in townhouses and condominiums. All homes are in close proximity to walking and biking trails as well as some tennis courts and skiing centers. There are also shopping centers nearby as well as a train station. Public and private schools are also just a few minutes away.
