This neighbourhood has one of the best views in Calgary: the majestic snow-capped Rockies. It also has a grand view of downtown Calgary, which means one can have the best views of both worlds in Hawkwood.
The community was established in 1981 and named after the original landowners in the area, John and Joseph Hawkwood. They came from a dairy farming family who immigrated from England.
It is interesting to note that Hawkwood is one of the first Canadian communities to provide free WiFi connection for its residents. Not that the residents couldn't afford internet when Hawkwood is home to the more affluent families in Calgary.
Hawkwood is bordered by Country Hills Blvd to the north and John Laurie Blvd to the south, as well as Sarcee Trail to the east and Nose Hill Drive to the west.
