High River is a small town with a big heart and colossal adventures. It is part of the Calgary Metropolitan Region, located at the junction of Alberta Highways 2 and 23.
Flowing through the town is the peaceful Highwood River, which is how the community got its name. Even before major developments reached High River, it was already a popular town because it provided convenience among people who wanted to cross the river with their horses and cattle.
The town is rich in arts and culture. As part of the government’s tourism and heritage pursuits, there are murals all around High River depicting its history. The community is also home to the Museum of the Highwood.
