Lakeview residents are so lucky to be blessed with magnificent views like that of the Elbow River Valley and the Glenmore Reservoir. The neighbourhood got its name because of its view of the Glenmore Reservoir.
Lakeview was annexed to Calgary in 1956 and was established as a neighbourhood in 1962. It is sandwiched between Glenmore Trail SW and 37th Street SW, which is considered the western city limits. To the west of Lakeview is Tsuu T'ina Nation Indian Reserve.
The area is surrounded by important establishments. Chinook Centre, for example, is just nearby. There are also a number of golf courses within and nearby. Hiking and walking trails also abound in Lakeview.
