Martindale was established in 1983. It is bordered by 80 Avenue E to the north, 64 Avenue E to the south, Falconridge Blvd to the east, and Metis Trail to the west. The neighbourhood is located east of Calgary International Airport.
The neighbourhood officially opened its own LRT station in 2012. That's a sign of progress. It is served by many public and private schools including the Nelson Mandela High School, which is named after the famed South African revolutionary.
The Martindale Community Association keeps the town busy with fun activities to entertain residents and invite visitors from nearby areas. The organization hosts annual stampede dinners, dances, and kids' movie nights, among others.
Among the favourite places for locals to congregate is the community skating rink that doubles as a skateboard park.
