Millrise provides access to city amenities without living in the middle of the busy urban life. Commercial and industrial regions are just minutes away through the major roads surrounding the neighbourhood.
There is 146 Avenue S, which borders Millrise to the north, and Shawnessy Blvd that borders it to the south. Macleod Trail and James McKevitt Road also border Millrise to the east and west, respectively. Those who use CTrain are served by the Fish Creek-Lacombe station.
The community was annexed to Calgary in 1961 but it wasn't until 1982 that it was officially established as a neighbourhood. Residents are lucky enough to have Fish Creek Park, which is located north of Millrise. It is an urban provincial park with over 100 kilometers of paved and unpaved trails.
