Montgomery has a rich history. It was established as a community in 1911 under a different name. It was named Montgomery in 1943 after Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, a British military hero during World War I and World War II. It officially became part of Calgary in 1963.
You will find beautiful old homes in Montgomery alongside modern ones cropping up. It is bordered by the Bow River to the south and west, which allows Montgomery residents and visitors to enjoy its magnificent view while hiking or biking at nearby trails. The neighbourhood is also near Shouldice Park and Edworthy Park.
For those who prefer a different form of entertainment, Montgomery is also bordered by CF Market Mall to the north, which is one of the biggest shopping malls in Calgary.
