Lower Mount Royal is a popular place among the younger generation because of its many hip shops and trendy restaurants. It is one-half of Mount Royal, a neighbourhood established in 1904.
Lower Mount Royal is the northern section and is on a flat terrain. The Lower and Upper Mount Royals are separated by an escarpment, which runs through Cameron Avenue and Royal Avenue. Mount Royal, as a whole, is bordered to the north by the 17th Avenue SW and the 14th Street SW to the west.
The southern border of Lower Mount Royal is the uptown 17th Avenue shopping district, which is known to have diverse boutiques and dining places. The entire community Mount Royal is a walkable community.
