Parkdale is one of the choicest locations in Calgary as it is situated right along the northern bank of the Bow River. The neighbourhood was annexed to Calgary in 1910, just as the city was experiencing a great economic boom and was established as a neighbourhood in 1948.
There was a resurgence of economic and building boom in the 1970s and early 1980s. By 2014, Parkdale was already in the process of gentrification. But the community knows how to preserve historical places as it created the Parkdale Community Association Heritage Subcommittee, which identified around 28 sites with heritage value.
Parkdale is definitely a great place to live. Aside from the fact that it is near the majestic Bow River, the neighbourhood is also close to medical centres: Foothills Medical Centre and Alberta Chidlren's Hospital. University of Calgary is also nearby.
