The place got its name from its geological features. It's high up on a ridge over 1,200 meters high. You know what that means! People will have an amazing view of the city down below. There is also the astounding view of the rolling hills to enjoy.
Rocky Ridge was annexed to Calgary in 1989, but it wasn't established until 1998. So, Rocky Ridge is a fairly new established neighbourhood. It is bordered to the north by Country Hills Blvd and Crowchild Trail to the south. Rocky Ridge Road is to the east of the neighbourhood while Twelve Mile Coulee Road is to the west.
The neighbourhood is home to the Rocky Ridge Ranch Centre, which is the community centre for local events.
