The neighbourhood, established in 1973, was named after Cornish Robert Terrill Rundle, who worked as a missionary in Western Canada in the 1840s. Rundle is one of four communities collectively referred to as "The Properties".
Rundle is north of the Trans-Canada Highway, which serves all of the Canadian provinces. It is also conveniently located near the Sunridge Mall, one of the bigger malls in Calgary. It is also serviced by multiple schools: Rundle Elementary, Cecil Swanson Elementary, Dr. Gordon Higgins Junior High, St. Rupert Elementary, and St. Rose of Lima Elementary and Junior High Catholic Schools.
Rundle also has a regional bike pathway system to serve cycling enthusiasts. The Rundle Community Association has a Function Hall to host events and community fundraisers. The centre has its own pub, too.
