This is a relatively small neighbourhood that is just south of the University of Calgary, one of the top research universities in Canada. That's mainly how it got its name as it became a popular residential choice for U of C students.
University Heights was established in 1963. It is bordered to the south by U of C and McMahon Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics. It is also in close proximity to the Alberta Children's Hospital and Foothills Hospital.
Public transportation is also accessible in this neighbourhood due to its proximity to the Red Line Brentwood Station and University Station serviced by the CTrain.
